Grad school is amazing, but unlike anything i've ever experienced. It is the most challenging thing i've ever done in my life. Between reading several hundred pages and writing several papers a week and teaching two freshman courses I don't really have a lot of time for anything else. But you find little times here and there, and it's okay.
I think i'm pretty much done with livejournal. I've only been keeping it going to update about my comic, but facebook is a lot better for that anyway, so.
Keep reading "Jane", and i'll see you fuck faces on facebook.

Man no one cares about livejournal anymore. Myself included.
HERE ARE THINGS:
-I moved into my new apartment and it's awesome beyond belief.
-I got my first mail at the new place, and it was a letter and TWO mix cds from Caitlin. Go Caitlin.
-I am still single and very, very happy about it.
-Starting grad school in two weeks or so.
-Me and My Jane issue #1 is entering the home stretch and i'm very excited to see it play out. What's coming up next will set up the rest of the story arc.
-Seriously I love my new apartment.
-I miss Adam already.
-I have a new laptop and it's p-i-m-p.
-Jordan is trading me an N64, a record player/cabinet and speakers as well as having helped me to move 80% of my furniture for my old shitty laptop so go Jordan.
-I'm cutting back my hours at the radio station so i'll finally have a day off every week during the school year thank God.
-Mom came to visit and we had a lot of fun going to Target and things like that.
-Got a really nice recliner which is perfect for my new gaming chair at goodwill for 45 DOLLARS.
-45 DOLLARS.
-God I need a haircut so bad.
Goodbye forever.

I'm very, very proud of this page. It was a headache for Rachel through no fault of her own, so lets all take a moment and be thankful for her.
Becca looks kind of good all tarted up.

HELLO FRIENDS~
After convincing Adam to watch the Harry Potter movies, I subjected him to a quiz on who was who, and what their names were. I complied this list because I felt his insights were worth sharing with everyone. I hope you enjoy.
Who's the bearded guy in charge of the school? - "Professor Isotoner? No. Gumbledort. Bryant Gumbeldort? No, i'm fucking around, I know this one. It's Dumbledorfer."
Harry's house? - "Griffindort? Steven Dorff? Fucking something like that."
Malfoy's house? "Smytherin? Shingling? Goth kid faggot house."
The other houses? - "Bumblepuff and Roy Schrieder. Ravenwood? Ravenblood."
Name the unforgiveable curses - "Umm... Crucial Taunt*, Abra Cadabra, Zach Effron"
What's the name of the head bad guy? - "Lord Chocolate Malt"
The potions master's name? - "Hans Gruber? Professor Snake."
The giant groundskeeper guy? - "That Oliver Platt looking motherfucker? Madrid? Merle Haggard? I don't fucking know."
Harry's red-headed friend? - "That's fucking easy, Robin Weasley."
Harry's friend the girl? - "Hermninny. She got hot as fuck. Her name is "nice hiney", or it should be. I like her ass." *Me: "I can't believe you just referenced the band in Wayne's World."

Visiting the new apartment, Bob's birthday, extra shifts at work, hanging out with Bevin (!).
Next week is gonna be nutz.
I don't feel old lately so much as I feel grown-up compared to people I know.
I love it here but I can't wait to move.

I am home now.
I decided on the plane ride to Detroit to make some serious changes in my life. So far, they are coming along very nicely.
Today Kim and I watched Sorcerer's Stone and we're tackling Chamber of Secrets (ugh) tomorrow.
More pictures later (?).
I don't move for three weeks and I am already packing.
Life is good.

Adam is wandering the streets in search of "hookers", so I will update a with a few things.
HERE IS THE STUFF I PAYED CASH MONEY FOR:
- "Pluto: Still A Planet In My Heart" shirt (Poseur Ink)

- Hand stitched Mario Bros mushroom hat (Caitlin has given me no small amount of shit over this)

BUT I DON'T CARE
- Scott Pilgrim Con-Exclusive t-shirt

- Scott Pilgrim V.1 (for Brian Lee O'Malley to sign which he DID

- SECRET ITEM

- And a bunch of free comics, buttons, and all that hootenany.
In other news
Adam and I got our picture taken with Battle Creek, Michigan's own Rob Van Dam:

Which was awesome. We didn't even know he was going to be at Comic Con this year, in fact, he was only there for about five hours total. We were at the Troma booth next door and they noticed my shirt, and mentioned Rob was coming by. We lucked out in that regard.
I told Rob I was from Battle Creek, and he was pretty surprised. We chatted about Pennfield Pizza, and he told me when he first started wrestling he called himself "The Battle Creek Barbarian". Also: he was incredibly stoned.
Our feet and legs were so sore last night from walking the streets of San Diego plus around 9 hours on the convention floor that we decided "fuck it", and rented a pedi-cab this morning. I almost typed pedo-cab, which is a different affair entirely.

View from the cab.

Idiots.
That's all I feel like posting right now. There's more, but *lazy*. Rachel's nice, I have copies of the book. I miss my NES. Goodbye.

2.
Outside a CVS in downtown San Diego

Gangly Youths (with raised fists): YEEEEEEAH!

Hello!
Me and My Jane
Written by me, illustrated by Rachel Dukes.
The Me and My Jane mini will be available at Comic Con, so if any of you guys who aren't going to be there (all of you?) want one, let me know. I might be able to work something out. Keep in mind we have kids to feed here.
I love you.
EDIT: OH, so, who wants to be my best friend?
Rachel and I could use a few quotes for the back cover of the book. Sooooo... If any of you read and enjoy the book and wouldn't mind seeing your words and name printed on the back, please leave a comment with your quote? Thank you babies.

In a week, we'll be in San Diego.
As excited as I am for Comic Con (and I AM) I am possibly just as excited to go to the San Diego Zoo. I do so love a good zoo.
I'm making a pair of mix cds. One wasn't enough.
I'm excited to move into my new place. As much as i'll miss this apartment, it's time for me to move on to something else. Everything else is changing, after all. Or at least it seems that way.
Backtracking to Comic Con, the first 13 pages of Me and My Jane should be available as a mini comic. This is tremendously exciting for me. I sent Rachel a few notes on the cover a bit ago. I was a little blocked on a few things, but Caitlin helped me out. She was very insightful, in fact. I always value getting an outside opinion about my characters. Happily we were very much on the same wavelength.
Adam wants to try and get Corin Nemec to sign a copy of the mini. I'll believe it when I see it. But then this is the man who, upon meeting Mike Tyson in a parking lot in Vegas, quizzed him on his knowledge of Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!.
I'm hoping to finish the script to issue #2 of Me and My Jane while i'm in California. It's about half-done now. It's not terrible. The girls buy bras. The boys play Mortal Kombat 3. I'm a feminist at heart.
Page 13 should be up on Friday! So i'll obviously let you know when that happens.

I don't know if anyone goes back this far anymore, but I might as well let the cat out of the bag and admit that Becca is based on Maggie.

I received a letter that I felt I should hang onto the other day, so I got out my shoebox where I keep that sort of thing. I hadn't spilled out and rifled through the contents in at least a few years.
It was nice, actually. I wasn't sure how i'd feel about going through all of those photos and random items i've saved that reminded me of people, usually women i've loved. But it felt kind of comforting. It wasn't even bittersweet. It just felt good to know that I have all of those items saved.
Some of my favorite things I found were:
- Photo of Jordan and I outside of the Rocketstar Cafe (RIP) in January of 2004. Lenya must have taken it.
- Photo taken outside of Mom's house, some time in 2006. My hair is very long and i'm standing in front of the Millennium Falcon. The only photographic proof I own that that van existed.
- Ticket stub from the Gin Blossoms show Ben and I went to in 2006
- Handmade valentine that Cam made me for Valentine's Day last year. Rob Sheffield quote on the back.
- Playbill from "Love's Labours Lost" at GVSU. One of Katelyn and I's first dates.
- "Birthday" card from Tyree, Will, and Faith. It says "So you're having twins!" on the front.
- Autographed copy of Fred Meijer's autobiography. A gift from Kaylin on my 24th birthday.
There are some things in there that I no longer remember the significance of (scratch paper with two dog heads drawn on it? Katelyn, did you draw that? No idea.) but i'm glad I have it all. It's nice to be able to pull this stuff out and be reminded of happy times. Not that these aren't happy times themselves.

We Were Promised Jetpacks - Quiet Little Voices
Sound quality on the video isn't very good, but you get the point. Can't decide if I love their name or hate it.
As always; you may not like this at all, but I assure you, it's excellent.
